If you follow my blog for a while now you’ll probably know that animal print is a staple in my wardrobe. I think I own everything in this print, from coats, jumpers, skirts, belts, shoes, leggings, scarves.. You get my point!
I’m not even a fan of wearing print, just this particular one! And I find it really easy to style. Here are a few tips/rules I follow when styling Animal Print.
1. Make it the focus of the outfit. If you’re going to wear a bold print keep the rest of the look simple (unless you’re a wizz at print clashing).
2. Mix these pieces with neutral tones like black, grey, white or camel. Another fave of mine is baby blue with leopard print – if you dare!
3. If you want to print clash, do it with stripes or plaid. These are two amazing prints when worn with leopard print in particular. I would recommend a monochrome stripe, and for plaid, don’t have too many colours in the pattern.(think red and black, or blue and grey, not green and navy and yellow..). Try clashing your accessories to start with, like a leopard print bag when you’re wearing a plaid shirt, for example.
4. To stay trés chic, try not to wear coloured animal prints. This can just end up looking tacky, and not very nice at all. In the above picture I’m wearing a red leopard sweater, which is fine, but no luminous colours, no purple and definitely no multicolour.
5. Keep the item of clothing loose/well fitted. Anything too tight or skimpy will, again, just look tacky. That’s why I mainly stick to looser items of clothing like jackets and coats or accessories.
6. And the final piece of advice I will share is less is always more!
