May 1st. Today marks my first day of my ‘write everyday for 31 days’ challenge.
Writing was a passion of mine when I first started blogging back in 2011, but since YouTube videos, podcasts and social media took over, I feel like my writing hasn’t seen the light of day. I feel like I’ve lost my tone of voice a little and don’t know what my writing style is anymore. So I’ve challenged myself to write everyday for the month of May. Everyday May, if you will.
I’m also challenging myself to month of minimalism, as I’m hosting my first book club over on my Conscious Consumers Patreon group. We’re reading Stuffocation; Living more with less by James Wallman, and I’ll be creating some posts, videos and podcast episodes about it, and working to implement the ideas in the book into my life. I first read this book about 2 or 3 years ago, but obviously the ideas didn’t stick. But now I feel like it’s screaming out for me. I have such an un-ignorable urge to have less in my life, in order to have more.
My first post of 2021 was about a year of less, but so far I’ve only bought less. I haven’t really decluttered much of what I already had accumulated.
I have a whole week booked off work and no solid plans so for the first week of May I will spend my time tidying, decluttering, organising, sorting… and of course reading my book and sharing my thoughts on it. I’m strangely excited to tidy up.. Maybe it is as Life Changing as Marie Kondo says it is.. maybe another idea for the book club?
I guess this post is a .. “Hello! How are you? Long time no speak…” sort of post. An introduction to the rest of the month.
Come join me on Instagram and YouTube if you wanna see how I get on with my month of Minimalism, although I’ll be continuing to chat about that, and lots of other stuff, throughout the month here. I do hope you stick around and share your own experiences with me in the comments.
